LED lighting on strawberry in greenhouse

My name is Andrea Steffi, and I am a graduate student in the Special Crops Program at Colorado State University. I conducted lehrerin experiments in the greenhouse off-season in 2020 and 2021 to understand whether supplementing LED lighting will increase the growth yield or fruit quality parameters of strawberries. The experiment carried out 3 times of light treatment and 1 time of non-light control treatment.

White fire red low blue light and high blue light LED strips. Each treatment was applied to two different day-neutral strawberry varieties, albion and san andreas. Before starting the experiment, at night, we used an aspect radiometer to measure the light output processed by each LED. Both low blue light and high blue light treatments have higher red photon density, which is called the driving factor of photosynthesis. The effect of treatment on plant growth and fruit quality is analyzed. The soluble solid content (brix) that appears in the weight and yield of a single fruit can be sold as an indicator of sweetness and leaf area.

The experiment was repeated twice during s. In the first experiment, the number of days was shortened, after the winter solstice, the number of days was extended in spring and the number of days in autumn was shortened again. We see an increase in the number of fruits that can be sold and the number of fruits that can be sold. The weight of a single fruit processed by all LED grow light is the highest in high blue light and low blue light, because the weight of fruit San Andreas is higher. Using bricks to measure the soluble solids of berries, we found that the sweetness increased under high blue light treatments, and in all treatments, the worship of ouralbion was generally sweeter than sanandreas. We found that under all LED light treatments, the leaf area increased, especially under low blue light and white far-red light. Sanandreas extended days experiment 2 caused limited response. Supplemental lighting is a key tool currently used by greenhouse growers and researchers.
